2) What are the soft skills that most young graduates today need to focus on?
Although many graduates have very impressive academic qualifications, today's employers are not only focused on recruiting candidates with strong academic results and good business skills. Whilst these skills are of great importance, employers are primarily looking to hire emotionally intelligent people who are able to work well with others.
Attention needs to be paid to the following soft skills if graduates are looking to succeed in a professional working environment:
- Leadership skills
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Well honed written skills
- Being respectful and culturally sensitive
- Ability to be flexible and respond to change
- Ability to problem solve and use ones own initiative
